Children are important to us because they are important to God! Therefore we desire to minister to children as well as their parents. At Albany Baptist, we believe that children should be taught about Christ and His great love for us as soon as they are able to understand. This commitment to teaching children about God has lead us to establish quality ministries for children in each service we offer.

During our services we offer loving, quality nursery care for infants and toddlers through two years of age. And, for children age three through grade six, our Children’s Ministry provides an opportunity for kids to learn about God at their own level.

Our programs offer: a place where children can form friendships with other children; a grace-filled environment which communicates the love and acceptance of God; an exciting, fun-filled time that makes church an enjoyable and memorable experience.

NURSERY CARE
A well-staffed infant nursery is available during services on Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening children 14 months and under. The nursery is equipped with changing tables, cribs, and toys. Our nursery staff provides a safe, nurturing, fun-filled environment that affords parents the confidence to enjoy the worship service knowing that their children are well cared for. If you decide to stay with your child, the service is televised in the nursery as well.

The toddler nursery is available for children ages 1 through 3. Your children will love the toys and activities geared toward their age. And our staff of warm, loving workers offer loving care that will make your child’s experience an enjoyable one.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH
At Albany Baptist, Sunday is an exciting time for children age 3 through grade 5. Our potty trained 2's and 3's class is designed to help children learn about God as they work on hands-on activities, and hear Bible stories. Adults provide an environment that keeps children supervised and safe.

Children in our age 4 - kindergarten class, grade 1 and 2 class, and our grade 3 - 5 have a worship time that is designed especially for their needs. This time includes songs, stories, activities, and games. It is our desire that children grow spiritually as a result of attending Sunday morning classes.

AWANA
There are AWANA Clubs for children from preschool through the sixth grade. Clubs meet each Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

AWANA is a children’s ministry with one goal: to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ, then to train them to serve Him. The word AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. It is taken from 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

During a typical meeting, the children participate in three sessions. First there is handbook time. The children work in books, memorized God’s Word, and sometimes have special projects. They earn patches and ribbons as they learn. Second, there is a time of fellowship, singing, and a message from the Bible. Third, there’s Game Time! Throughout the year there are also special events such as the AWANA Grand Prix, Sparks Regatta, and the AWANA Games/Sparks-A-Rama.

The three clubs at Albany Baptist are: AWANA Cubbies (3 to 5 year olds), AWANA Sparks (kindergarten through second grade), and Truth and Training (third through sixth grade).
